Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 November 2026
This policy describes the Christmas Ideas NZ website and app, operated by Pip Delany-Lott in New Zealand. It explains the information used by the features currently offered. Contact details are on our Contact page.
Information used by the service
- Accounts: your email address and account/profile information are used for sign-in, account recovery and access to member features. Never send us your password.
- Saved content: boards, saved ideas and related preferences are used to provide your personal saved collection.
- Contributions: submissions, comments, ratings and uploaded photos are used to review and display community contributions. Approved posts can show your first name, selected public credit and the material you submit. Pending contributions are reviewed before public display.
- Location: you may choose a home area or allow your browser to share your location for nearby results. Browser location permission is optional and can be changed in the browser’s settings.
- Technical information: hosting, authentication and security services process connection and device information needed to deliver and protect the service.
Storage and service providers
We use Supabase for authentication, database and storage features, hosting services to deliver the website, and Google Analytics only when the app’s analytics choice is allowed. These providers process information needed for their services under their own terms. Information may be processed outside New Zealand; a New Zealand theme does not mean all technical storage is located here.
Account sessions and preferences can be stored in your browser so features such as persistent sign-in work. Clearing browser storage or signing out can affect those features. Providers’ information is available from Supabase, OpenAI and Google.
Optional Google Analytics
The app asks whether Google Analytics may be used to understand visits and the Christmas content people enjoy. You can choose “No thanks” and continue browsing. If allowed, analytics uses cookies and receives visit, device and approximate-location information. Account tokens, email addresses and search text are excluded from our analytics events. Google signals and advertising-personalisation signals are disabled.
Use “Privacy choices” at the bottom of the app to change the choice. Browser controls also let you manage cookies and site storage. Changing analytics consent does not delete your Christmas Ideas NZ account.
Advertising, affiliate links and other websites
Google display advertisements are currently disabled on this website. Some listings may link to retailers or use a disclosed affiliate link. When you follow a link, the destination site has its own privacy practices and may use cookies or collect information independently.
We will update this policy and any required consent controls before introducing Google advertisements. Google and other advertising vendors may use cookies to serve ads based on previous visits to this or other websites. Google explains these technologies at Advertising technologies; personalised-ad preferences can be managed at My Ad Center.
Public posts and children’s information
Keep children’s names, addresses, school information and other personal details out of submissions. Only upload material you have permission to share. A public contribution can be seen and copied by other visitors, so use the private contact route for account or privacy matters. Do not upload information about someone else without considering their permission and privacy.
Keeping, correcting and removing information
Account and saved information supports your ongoing use of the service. Contributions support review and the public community features. Contact us privately to request access, correction or deletion of information associated with you. We may need to verify your identity and clarify which account or contribution you mean. Technical backups, security records or information that must be retained may not disappear immediately when a public item is removed.
For a privacy concern, use the Contact page and describe what happened without including passwords or sign-in codes. If you remain concerned about how a New Zealand privacy issue is handled, information is available from the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
Changes
We will update this page when the service’s information practices change. The date above identifies the latest published version.
